The Nanaimo Medical Staff Engagement Society and the Division of Family Practice invite you to attend:

Local Infiltration: The Domain of the Anatomically Destitute

 

The learning objectives for the evening are as follows:

  1. Discuss the basic pharmacology of amide and ester local anesthetics
  2. Describe the pertinent anatomy for nerve blocks in the head, neck, and hand
  3. Describe the common risks and complications of local anesthetics
  4. Manage local anesthetic toxicity

During the hands-on portion of the evening willing participants are invited to practice some of the nerve blocks on each other*.

This fulfills learning objective #5: Gain the knowledge and skillset to perform the following nerve blocks:

1) supraorbital blocks

  • intraoral infraorbital blocks
  • intraoral mental nerve blocks

2) intraoral lingual nerve blocks

3) intraoral inferior alveolar nerve blocks

  • digital nerve blocks in the hand
  • dorsal radial and ulnar nerve blocks
  • total ear blocks
